Engineering Technician, Materials Testing Technician – Milwaukee or Madison

GeoTest, Inc. is a leading Wisconsin geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing laboratory. We are ISO/IEC 17025 and WisDOT accredited. We have laboratories in West Allis and Madison.  Experience in soils, concrete, asphalt, or aggregate testing and WisDOT, ACI or NICET certification is desirable, but we will train an enthusiastic and motivated entry level technician. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to lift 75 lbs is required.

Duties include construction materials sampling and testing and construction observation services at project sites throughout southern Wisconsin.  Perform standardized test methods on geologically based construction materials such as Soil, Concrete, Hot-mixed Asphalt, Aggregates, Cement, Mortar and Masonry Units.  Observation and documentation of construction activities and installation and monitoring of geological instrumentation.  Laboratory testing of geologically based construction materials.  Knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO test methods and procedures.

On the Job

• Work is generally Mon-Fri between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.  7:00 am to 4:00 pm during the construction season.
• Employee could be located in our Milwaukee or Madison office, although occasional daily travel between locations may be necessary.

Requirements

• 0-10 years of work experience as a civil /geotechnical / CMT technician is desired.  Entry level acceptable.
• Good driving record and valid WI driver’s license.
• Must pass pre-employment, non-DOT drug screening.
• H.S. diploma, A.S. in Civil Technology (preferred).

Pay and Benefits

• Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
• Pay: $17.00 – $35.00 per hour, Pay is based on level of prior experience. Bonus opportunities. Expected hours: 45 – 60 hours per week.
